PCI Compliance

Stay PCI compliant without the headache.

Every business that takes cards has to be PCI compliant, whatever its size. PayNet gives you a guided tool and an account manager who keeps you on track, so validation never quietly lapses.

What compliance actually means

A few facts worth knowing up front.

PCI compliance is a yearly requirement, not a one-time checkbox, and the details trip up a lot of businesses. Here is the short version.

Everyone has to comply

Any business that accepts cards is required to be PCI compliant, no matter how small.

Compliant gear is not enough

A PCI compliant terminal or gateway helps, but it does not make your business compliant on its own.

It renews every year

Validation is valid for one year, with an annual questionnaire and scans where they apply.

Non-compliance costs

Skipping validation adds a monthly fee until you complete it, so it pays to keep it current.

The guided path

Rapid Comply walks you through it.

Instead of handing you a stack of forms, PayNet points you to a guided compliance tool. It steps you through the questionnaire, runs the scans where they are needed, and offers support by phone, chat, and email when a question comes up.

Before you start

Have these three things handy.

The questionnaire goes much faster when you can answer it in one sitting. This is all it takes for most dealers.

1

How you take payments

Terminals, tap to pay, the virtual terminal, online pages. A simple list of every way a card reaches you.

2

What touches card data

The devices and software involved in a payment. With tokenized PayNet tools, the honest answer is usually "very little."

3

Whether you store cards

With card-on-file handled in the tokenized vault, raw card numbers should never sit in your office, and your questionnaire gets much simpler.

You are not on your own

Your account manager keeps you current.

Compliance is easy to forget until a fee shows up. Your PayNet account manager tracks your validation, gives you a heads up before it is due, and helps you get through the questionnaire so it stays done.

  • A reminder before your annual validation is due
  • Help completing the questionnaire and any required scans
  • A person to call when a compliance question comes up

Straight answers

PCI questions, answered plainly.

What is PCI DSS, in one sentence?
It is the card industry's security standard, and every business that accepts cards is required to meet it, from a one-truck operation to a national chain.
My terminal says it is PCI compliant. Am I done?
No. Compliant equipment helps, but the requirement covers your business, not just the device, which is why the annual questionnaire exists. The good news: with tokenized tools doing the heavy lifting, the questionnaire is far simpler than it sounds.
How often do I have to do this?
Validation lasts one year. That means an annual self-assessment questionnaire, plus quarterly network scans where they apply to your setup.
We use an outside IT company. Does that cover us?
You can use third-party vendors, but your business is still the one that must be validated: the compliance fee still applies and your status still has to be reported. Your account manager helps make sure the paperwork actually gets done.
What happens if I just ignore it?
A monthly non-validation fee applies until you complete it, and it never goes away on its own. Thirty minutes with the guided tool beats paying that fee every month.
